a progress tracking app - getgoodr
·~2 min
getgoodr is a web app I built for my daughter and myself. She's been skating for a little over a year now and will be starting hockey soon and I picked up golf.
I wanted a way for us to track our progress without it being scattered through instagram posts, tiktoks, or stories. That's when I came up with the idea getgoodr.

With getgoodr, you're able to create activities for anything you'd like to track. Once you have an activity setup you can add posts that are contained within that activity. You can add any number of photos and videos to a post and you'll see it all within an activity.
For me this is a perfect way to help me track our progress and easily share it with others who also want to see how far we've come.
The tech stack I used for this is a tech stack that I'm fairly comfortable with:
Database: Postgresql
Server: Express (Nodejs)
Webapp: NextJS
This database and server are hosted on DigitalOcean using their App Platform and the web app is hosted on Vercel.
Why the name getgoodr? I wanted something that didn't feel too serious and intended it to be a lot more casual. I wasn't interested in only posting the good parts but also the parts that wouldn't have necessarily made it to a highlight reel. It's to showcase someone's journey to get better at an activity.
