TOFU65 + Kailh Box Jade + ePBT: A Clicky Sound Test

This one's a quick typing and sound test of a KBDfans TOFU65, and this particular board belongs to a friend of mine, who got it preassembled directly from KBDfans.
THE BUILD
- Case: KBDfans TOFU65, acrylic
- Plate: brass
- Switches: Kailh Box Jade, clicky
- Keycaps: ePBT ABS
- Assembly: preassembled by KBDfans
I'll be honest, I wish I'd gotten to build this one myself, but for some reason the parts weren't all available individually, so my friend went with the preassembled route. My own Tofu60 build is coming soon, though, so stay tuned for that.
WHY THIS COMBO SOUNDS THE WAY IT DOES
This is a fun mix of materials. Kailh Box Jades are one of the heaviest, thickest clicky switches out there. They have a sharp, loud click that's unmistakable, with a satisfying tactile bump. Put them on a brass plate, which is dense and adds a deeper, fuller note, and house it all in an acrylic case, which gives a slightly higher-pitched, marbly sound, and you get a clacky, clicky profile with real body to it.
The ePBT ABS keycaps round it out, a clean, comfortable set that lets the switches and plate do the talking.
THE SOUND
If you love a loud, proud clicky board, this is the sort of build you put on display. The Box Jades cut through, the brass plate keeps it from sounding thin, and the acrylic case adds character. It's the opposite of a quiet office board, and that's the whole point.
FINAL THOUGHTS
A preassembled KBDfans TOFU65 with Box Jades on a brass plate is a great example of how much your switch, plate, and case choices change a board's character. If clicky is your thing, this combo is a treat, and if you want to hear it, the typing test is the heart of the video.
